Fishing is mostly about patience, and the Madu River is a lovely place to practise it. This Madu River fishing trip gives you three hours on a private boat among the mangroves of Balapitiya, Sri Lanka, with nothing to do but drop a line and see what the river brings.
Your rider meets you at our boat station, hands you a rod and takes you out onto the water. All the fishing equipment and bait are provided. Your rider knows which corners of the mangroves and small islands are worth a try. At the first spot the engine goes quiet and your line goes in. Never fished before? Your rider will show you exactly what to do.
Then comes the waiting, which is half the fun. Mangrove branches lie mirrored on the water, egrets stand still at the edge of the bank, and the river moves gently around you. Many kinds of fish live here, and a bite can come just when you have stopped expecting it.
